Princess Lalla Salma and Queen Rania Promote Education and a Brighter Future for Girls in Morocco. One could not help last night thinking of how young, beautiful and very privileged the Moroccan princesses and the Jordanian queen are in this modern world. But, fortunately for the women in their countries, they are not sitting around just eating bonbons and entertaining themselves at festivals. In Morocco and Jordan, there are important projects taking shape to transform the lives of underprivileged women and girls. One of the most important efforts is toward education and the elimination of child labor.
Most people know child labor still exists in most underdeveloped countries and for many reasons, it is a difficult problem to eradicate. There is demand from the developed countries for the products these children produce in sweat shops, demand for their cheap labor in the home and other places, and demand from their own families for the meager income their labors provide.
UNICEF has a report on what is happening in Morocco.
